Rachael Clewlow meticulously documents the ways in which she inhabits the landscape. Her ‘statistical diaries’ in which journeys are logged through dedicated daily recordings, are exquisite objects in their own right. They are also however, the source material for her pictorial inventions, her own mobility translated into abstract patterns of form and colour recalling the visual language of maps and their colour coding systems, rigorously and painstakingly executed by hand.
